History
The club was founded in 1926. After it had been dissolved briefly in 1949, they were re-established in the same year under the simple name Krujë. Two years later they were renamed Puna Krujë before the original name was again introduced in 1958. They have switched divisions on a regular basis from the 1990s on, starting in the first Albanian league and relegated to the second division in 1993. After another promotion and relegation they even fell down in the third division in 2003. However they reclaimed their place on the top level after the 2008/2009 season. As of Summer 2011 the club has changed its status into a SH.A. The investments made by the new ownership in infrastructure and player acqusitions have turned out to be very successful. Currently Kastrioti is in the top positions of the standings of the Albanian Superlige and the stadium looks a lot better from the work that has been done. Overall there is an optimistic attitude initiated from the investments that have been done in the structures of the club. KS Kastrioti aims to be one of the best football clubs in the country. Kastrioti has never won the Albanian Superlige but has won the championship title in The first Division and Second Division.
